Each bird sculpture is hand carved in serpentine or in argillite by an Inuk artist from Cape Dorset or Sanikiluak which are located on Baffin Island in Canada's high arctic. Although many bird sculptures may appear identical, each sculpture is different, original and unique because each sculpture is carved by hand individually .
