Ottokie
Samayualie was born on June 17th, 1980 in Cape Dorset, which
is located on Baffin Island in Canada's
high arctic.
He is the son of Inuit artists Johnny Samayualie and Kudluajuq
Ashoona.
His uncle Ashevak Tunnillie and his
aunt Oviloo Tunnillie
are also well
known Inuit artists.

Ottokie
started carving in 1989 when he
was 9 years old. His favorite animal to
carve is the bear which he carves in many different poses. His
dancing bears are in
high demand worldwide.
Ottokie also likes hunting and fishing.
